The Royal Hospital is a large, modern, acute-care hospital. Established in 1987, it is owned and run by the Ministry of Health, Sultanate of Oman.
Organizationally, the Royal Hospital is an autonomous Directorate General reporting directly to His Excellency, The Minister of Health.
The Hospital’s mission is:
- To provide state-of-the-art tertiary care services.
- To serve as the apex referral center for Ministry of Health institutions.
- To strive for:
- High quality care to be rendered with maximum efficiency, effectiveness, and economy;
- High level of patient satisfaction;
- Minimum patient waiting time;
- Appropriate interaction and co-operation with Ministry of Health institutions in order to respond effectively to the health care needs of the country;
- High staff morale, job satisfaction and employee commitment to the goals of the organization.
- As a teaching hospital:
- To provide excellent teaching facilities to Omani under-graduate and post-graduate medical and nursing trainees and to students of allied healthcare disciplines with a view to attaining Omanisation and local self-sufficiency in the medical field;
- To promote clinical research and thereby contribute to further development of medical services in the Sultanate.
