NATURE OF WORK
Beyond routine x-rays, the department undertakes a wide range of investigations including radio-contrast studies, ultrasound, ultrasound guided biopsies, angiography bone densitometry, mammogram, CT scan, cardiac/interventional studies/3T MRI scans.

 The Radiology department has regular slots throughout the week with various clinical departments to review and discuss problematic cases.  These meetings (listed in the CME Programs section of this website), also serve as training sessions for doctors undergoing the OMSB Residency Program.

Continuing educational activities for the Radiographers are also held on a regular basis both within the department and in coordination with MOH-HQ for Radiographers posted to other major hospitals.

 

EQUIPMENT
The department is well equipped with modern digital-x-ray and fluroscopy units,
mobile image intensifier systems, digital subtraction-angiography unit, ultrasound and doppler machines, a mammography unit, bone densitometer, 2 CT scans, MRI  unit and the picture archival retrieval system (PACS).  Besides routine x-rays,  a wide range of specialized  investigations are under taken like radio-contrast studies, ultrasound and doppler studies, interventional angiography, CT and MRI studies.

The Department is in the process of acquiring a new interventional suite, digital mammography and Cardic CT, which will be in place in the near future.
